Their closeness was a distancing,
A fire, a collapse, a confusion.
The magical strings snapped
Of childishly untouched souls.
A crowd of doubts burst in —
A contrasting, uninvited shower.
While, foaming, feelings seethed,
Over the noisy river of passions,
They tasted pleasure,
Subjugated to the heat of words.
A joyless day dawned.
They awoke. A subtle shadow
Of yesterday's wild happiness
Drowsed on a chair in the corner.
Bad weather howled outside the windows.
Clothing played leapfrog,
Sprawling across the carpet and parquet,
Glass trembled in the sideboard.
Giving time for the dawn to strengthen,
Desire left drop by drop.
Time to dress lazily,
To rise, hiding glances with disgust.
Leaving belongings to lie scattered,
In the power of clinging dreams,
Not to make an intimate attempt,
To say a couple of tender words.
Doubt scattered in the morning,
No strength to admit the fiasco:
Attraction cannot replace love,
The bed will become repulsive
